Our Officers

Officers of the Plattsburgh Green Committee are responsible for various tasks.

Each officer is elected and has a one-year term of service.

 Sonal grew up in a small town in Southern New Jersey.  The beauty of this area, including the Jersey shore and the Pinelands, inspired her to pursue her B.S. in Environmental Science at Virginia Tech.  After graduating, she returned home and interned at a Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge as a Naturalist/Environmental Educator.  She then proudly joined AmeriCorps and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection where she taught others of Watershed Issues.  She also conducted stream surveys using visual and biological assessments.  During her time in New Jersey, she worked with numerous environmental organizations and has coordinated the creation of the first Watershed Festival in the area.  She has seen, first-hand, what a small group of dedicated individuals can accomplish.

 Sonal moved to Plattsburgh in August 2006.  She completed her Masters at SUNY Plattsburgh in Adolescent Education focusing in Biology.  While there, she also taught a course in Environmental Science.  She is pursuing a job in a Middle or High School as a Science Teacher.  In the meantime, she substitute teaches in the area, is a Biology Professor at Clinton Community College, and works at Bluff Point Golf Resort.  She is also available to facilitate Project W.E.T. trainings for educators.

 Sonal is committed in helping the environment in any way she can.  She feels that education is crucial for our upcoming generation.
